UN Should Embrace Blockchain Technology, says Guterres

The United Nations (UN) should adopt technologies like blockchain that can help accelerate the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, decrypt website reported, citing the Organization’s Secretary-General.

In his New Year’s message, António Guterres also said, “2020 would be the start of a “decade of action” for the Sustainable Development Goals.”

The Secretary-General’s remarks would not surprise the UN agencies that have been adopting the blockchain technology for several years.

There are some reasons encouraging the charity sector to adopt the blockchain, as this technology promises to facilitate processes, reduce the need for middlemen.
