Atupri is Switzerland’s first leading provider of health insurance to adopt cryptocurrencies as a means of payment. The company could play a pioneering role throughout Switzerland as an innovative provider of digital solutions in the health sector.
New Era in Health Sector Payment
As announced by Atupri on 31 August, the health insurance company offers the new payment method via Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) through the Swiss specialist Bitcoin Suisse. Based in Bern, Atupri will not hold any digital assets itself. Instead, it will receive fiat payments in Swiss francs once Bitcoin Suisse exchanges the BTC or ETH.
Moreover, the health insurance company had roughly $887 million in annual sales as of 2019. It will have customers pay for any fees associated with mining.
Additionally, Caroline Meli, head of marketing and sales at Atupri, emphasised, “As digital pioneers in the health sector, we anticipate social trends and offer insurance solutions with long-term prospects. Blockchain technology and the associated use of cryptocurrencies will become increasingly important.”
Meanwhile, Bitcoin Suisse is part of a comprehensive and integrated range of crypto financial services. It has proven itself for several years as one of the most sophisticated payment solutions for cryptocurrencies worldwide.
“We are pleased about the partnership with Atupri and guarantee secure and uncomplicated payment options with cryptocurrencies,” said Armin Schmid, payment expert and head of Bitcoin Suisse Crypto Payments.
Furthermore, Bitcoin Suisse complies with the legal requirements for payment transactions as a regulated Swiss financial intermediary.
