IOTA Fixes Minor Network Bug

The IOTA Foundation has resolved its mainnet issue that was caused by an edge case in transaction structuring, the company said in a summary report about the incident on Wednesday.

The incident took place on December 29, and was fully resolved the next day. “This resulted in the halting of value transfer processing on the IOTA Mainnet,” the company added.

According to the report, an unusual set of transactions that may have been constructed as an attack disrupted ledger state calculation.

During the halt, customers could not process their transactions on the platform.

“Once it marked it as ‘counted’ in one bundle, it was ignored for the next bundle,” said the foundation.

IOTA also urged IRI node users to update their software to version 1.8.3.
