The Ethereum 2.0 testnet, named Topaz, recently launched by Prysmatic Labs, the open-source client to scale Ethereum with sharding protocol, has gained more than 20,000 participation of verification nodes, according to a report.
Ethereum’s co-founder, Vitalik Buterin, corroborated a few days ago the release of Ethereum 2.0 testnet, with a positive response to the announcement on Twitter.
Ethereum 2.0 Testnet Has More Than 20K Verification Nodes
According to the report, 18,000 of the 20,000 verification nodes are active verification nodes, while the rest are still pending in a state of pending.
The report has it that the testnet’s creation time is 8 AM Beijing time on April 18th, 2020, and it’s only run for about three days, making the progress it’s recorded in node verification so far significant.
Prysmatic Labs also said the Topaz implements Ethereum 2.0’s Phase 0 Proof-of-Stake (PoS) protocol, adding that anyone holding ETH in the Goerli testnet can participate.
Nevertheless, Prysmatic Labs reminded users that the testnet is meant only for network experimentation, so its safety is not guaranteed. It also stated that the network will be constantly being reset, maintained, and improved.
Top 33 Tokens by Market Cap Built on Ethereum Blockchain
Justin Umrake, an Ethereum 2.0 researcher, recently argued that Tether is not the top token as CoinMarketCap claims, but the top 33 tokens on the market are those built on Ethereum (ETH) blockchain (Eth1).
He added that $5 billion is issued on Ethereum 1 compared to $1.3 trillion issued on Omni.
“The top 33 tokens by market cap are on Eth1. Tether labelling by CoinMarketCap is increasingly outdated and misleading. There are 5B USDT issued on Eth1 versus 1.3B USDT issued on Omni,” Justin Ðrake shared.
Cryptolydian reported last week that, Ethereum’s co-founder (ETH), Vitalik Buterin, has recently corroborated the release of the testnet for Ethereum 2.0 mainnet, announced by Prysmatic Labs, the open-source client builder to scale Ethereum with sharding protocol.
The new development was made known by Prysmatic Labs a few hours ago via their official Twitter handle. The report highlighted the features of the new release called ‘The Topaz Testnet.’
