Sia, a decentralized cloud storage platform, has announced releasing Sia v1.4.4 app that includes multiple improvements to Sia and Skynet, according to the Currency Analytics website.
The platform said on its Twitter account:
“We just released Sia v1.4.4! This release includes multiple improvements to Sia and Skynet. Uploads will resume faster, Skynet supports uploading directories, and now has base infrastructure for encrypting Skylinks (fully in v1.4.5).”
It is worth mentioning that Sia is a project developed by Nebulous Labs to be a decentralized storage platform helping users to store data in the cloud without losing privacy.
The company said on its website:
“Sia encrypts and distributes your files across a decentralized network. You control your private encryption keys and you own your data. No outside company or third party can access or control your files, unlike traditional cloud storage providers.
Sai rolls out file sharing platform
On 18 February, the company has announced on its Twitter account launching Skynet, saying:
“The Internet is about to change forever. We are pleased to announce Skynet, a decentralized CDN and file sharing platform to serve as the foundation for a Free Internet.”
The difference between Skynet and Sia is that Skynet uploads are available to everyone who has the link. In addition, Skynet is an update of Sia, so users can use it in sharing files and managing websites. Skynet users can also determine if they want to be public or private.
Sydney Ifergan, a crypto expert, tweeted:
“Siacoin (SC) now have their own Skynet App Store. Perhaps they do not need any other app store. Nice development indeed. Establishing Superiority.”
Indeed, this is a wonderful infrastructure for users as they feel that Skynet can motivate developers to build decentralized apps in just minutes. Moreover, users find it easy to host static websites on skynet in a minute.
At the time of writing, Siacoin has dropped 6.51 percent to $0.00126. It ranks 70th with a market cap of $56.95 million.
